Activator Technique is a chiropractic treatment method and device created by Arlan Fuhr as an alternative to manual manipulation of the spine or extremity joints. The device is categorized as a mechanical force manual assisted (MFMA) instrument which is generally regarded as a softer chiropractic treatment technique.
Applied Kinesiology is best described as a tool using muscle testing as a diagnostic tool to augment the examination skills that a health care professional has learned. These finding then allow an integrated approach of differing therapies that are appropriate for the patient.
Cox Method is considered a safe alternative to back surgery and helps restore the range of motion in joints and muscles after bringing the spine into alignment. Treatment is preformed on a special table that flexes and bends various muscles and joints. It is commonly used to restore herniated discs, reduce headaches and improve posture.
Thompson Technique is another method of adjusting that involves analyzing the length of the legs. This technique uses a “drop table” for adjustment, where a gentle thrust is applied to the joints, which in turn sets the drop pieces into motion and targets the specific joint or tissue. After completing a leg check analysis, your chiropractor will determine the type of misalignment- cervical, pelvis, etc. and then adjusts the legs using a combination of multiple thrusts on various joints.
Gonstead Technique is a method that was developed by Dr. Clarence S. Gonstead in 1923, and has since been used to treat a variety of conditions. Gonstead chiropractic techniques address all areas of subluxation-the areas where the spine is out of alignment and is causing a pinched nerve. The Gonstead technique recognizes the misalignment and increases muscle and joint mobility by applying different levels of pressure.
Diversified Technique is the most commonly used adjustment technique by chiropractors. Like many chiropractic and osteopathic manipulative techniques, Diversified is characterized by a high-velocity, low amplitude thrust. Diversified is considered the most generic chiropractic manipulative technique and is differentiated from other techniques in that its objective is to restore proper movement and alignment of the spine and joint dysfunction.
Sacral Occipital Technique- “Sacro” means “related to, or associated with”, the sacrum. The sacrum is often called the tail bone though this is not exactly correct. “Occipital” means “related to or associated with the occiput. Occiput means “the back of the head”. So, SOT is a method of normalizing the relationship between the foundation of the spine and the top of the spine. It is this relationship and how these two bones get along with one another, that has been proven to be so important in the normal functioning of the brain and spinal cord.
Total Body Modification is a technique that uses a combination of testing systems, organs and specific points and then making corrections on the body that are connected with certain health impairments and structural imbalances. These dysfuntions are frequently associated with short circuits in the body’s bioelectrical system.
Toftness Technique- Developed by I.N. Toftness over 50 years ago, the Toftness System is a low-force technique practiced by thousands of chiropractors the world over. It is one of the oldest and most researched techniques in the chiropractic profession. The basic theory of the Toftness System is that the nervous system is not functioning normally-as when there is a subluxation-the electromagnetic energy is also abnormal. The Toftness practitioner’s primary task is to find a subluxation and to remove it with a chiropractic adjustment. Toftness patients experience a gentle technique that works to restore balance and promote wellness.
